Erasmus+ project
About DigiMentor
DigiMentor was an Erasmus+ small-scale partnership in adult education. It ran for twelve months across four countries.
Background
DigiMentor began with a problem two of the partner organisations could see in their own work. Mentors, social workers and educators at Danaker and Mentorung were guiding migrant women every day, and were increasingly being asked to do it through a screen. Very few of them had been trained for that.
On the other side of the same gap, migrant women were struggling to get useful guidance at all. Language barriers, cultural distance, limited access to devices and mentors who were not confident online all pushed in the same direction. Meanwhile the traditional answer, meeting in person, did not reach women living in another region or fitting mentoring around work and family.
What we set out to do
The goal was to make sure mentors, social workers and educators could give effective, accessible and culturally sensitive support in a world that had moved online without waiting for them.
Two things had to exist for that to be true. Guidance staff needed somewhere to learn the practical skills, which became the e-learning platform. And they needed somewhere to compare notes on what actually happens in a session, which became the peer-learning material.
Beyond training individuals, the partnership wanted the change to outlast the funding: for organisations working with migrant women to keep the practices going on their own.
How it was implemented
Project management
A governance framework, regular online and in-person meetings, and shared coordination tools across the four partners.
Workshop and training
A three-day workshop in Poland trained guidance staff and gathered the real-life experience that shaped both outputs.
E-learning platform
An interactive platform with structured modules on digital mentorship, communication and cultural sensitivity.
Peer learning and dissemination
A shared reference for mentors, and distribution of the results through partner networks and the Erasmus+ platforms.
