Erasmus+ adult education partnership

Developing digital mentorship competencies of guidance staff of migrant women

Mentors, social workers and educators were being asked to guide migrant women through an increasingly digital world, without ever being trained for it. DigiMentor set out to close that gap.

What the partnership built

Two outputs, still in use

E-learning modules, online training, MOOC

E-Learning Platform

A structured training platform for guidance staff, covering digital mentorship, communication and cultural sensitivity. Built from survey work, focus groups and the material gathered at the Poland workshop.

Forum, ten categories

Peer-Learning Forum

A shared reference for the questions mentors actually run into: what to do when a mentee goes quiet, which channel to use, how to keep a session safe. Organised into ten categories, each discussion on its own page.

Project objectives

Building the mentorship the digital age demands

The primary objective was to develop the digital mentorship competencies of the guidance staff who support migrant women. Four specific goals sat underneath it.

More about the project
  • Innovative mentorship

Encourage mentoring practices that are sustainable beyond a single project cycle, and that work at a distance as well as in a room.

  • Culturally inclusive practice

Build an approach to digital mentorship that treats cultural difference as a starting condition rather than an obstacle to manage.

  • Digital capacity

Raise the digital competence of guidance staff, including the data protection duties that come with moving mentoring online.

  • Gender equality

Reduce the disparity in who gets access to good guidance, by removing the barriers that keep migrant women out of it.
